What are cookies?
Cookies and similar technologies are very small text documents or pieces of code, which often include a unique identifier. When you visit a website or use a mobile application, a computer asks your computer or mobile device for permission to store this file on your computer or mobile device and access information from it. Information gathered through cookies and similar technologies may include the date and time of visits and how you are using a particular website or mobile application.
First and third party cookies
A cookie can be first or third party, which refers to the website that places the cookie. First party cookies are set by the website or domain that the user visits. Third party cookies are set by a website other than the one being visited by the user. Third party cookies are often used for marketing and advertising on a specific website, as well as across other sites.
We place first party cookies and similar technologies (including mobile device identifiers such as the IDFA used by Apple devices and the Advertising ID used by Android devices) on Our Site. Third party cookies are also set by some of our third party partners on Our Site and these third party partners may collect and receive personal information about you from those cookies.
How long do we keep information that we collect from cookies?
We retain personal data that we collect from cookies for, at most, a period of thirteen months from the date we collect your data via our cookies.
Please also see our Part III,7 to learn about “How long do we keep your personal information for”.
Types of cookies that we use
We set the following types of cookies on Our Site and on Client Sites:
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These are used to recognise you when you return to our website. This enables us to personalise our content for you, greet you by name and remember your preferences (for example, your choice of language or region).
Performance Cookies (or “AnalyticsCookies”), along with other information, allow us to calculate the aggregate number of people using Our Site and which features of Our Site are most popular.
We use this information to improve Our Site. We do not generally store any information that you provide to us in a cookie.
These cookies record a user’s visit to a Client Site, the pages the user has visited and the links they have followed. We use this information to help clients make their Client Site and the advertising displayed on it (and elsewhere as users access other websites and apps) more relevant to their interests.
